Ian, depending on the bike, there may be one, two or three different plugs to drain the motor oil from on a Harley.

the air filter was soaked in oil, leak out onto my right leg

i had this issue on the 883 and got a a kit to have the oil drip down a tube from the carb

you might notice oil in the carb filter as top breathing engines breath, or vent, through the top breather bolts

take reading from oil cap dip stick

bike level, not on side stand

check oil hot after running engine for a few mins

They don't even have a drain bolt

They are fairly easy to change I was surprised
