If you moved all the files onto the new machine first and then imported into iTunes from the same hardrive iTunes will create duplicate files and place the dupes in the iTunes Music folder.

Once thats done you can import your library and iTunes will place all the files in the Music folder.

On a new machine when you install iTunes it will create an iTunes Music Folder.
