Default I was robbed!!!

So I get a call from the Security & Fraud Division at my bank yesterday. They asked me if I was in California right now. My eyes opened wide as I realized what they were about to tell me. So after telling them I haven't left the state for some time they wanted to check with me cuz they put a temporary lock on my check card's account due to some "questionable spending" in Reading, California that happened a short time ago.

Turns out the asshole had some fun with my cloned card number and spent $505 before the account was locked. The grand total included $400 at Home Depot and $105 at Red Lobster, I hope you choked on that fucking meal you prick! At least they didn't get to spend any more than that.

But I'm the one who's laughing now cuz the asshole's left with a "declined card" and the bank refunded the entire amount. The case has been reported to the FBI and they're trying to start an investigation with the local police to see if there were any cameras that might have captured shots of the dipshit at the exact time of the purchases being both the receipts and cameras are time stamped.

Since then my card has been cancelled and they issued me a new one. The agent explained that they most likely pulled my card number from a purchase over the net and cloned a blank card. But the security factor is the magnetic strip has a separate code that's linked to the card number when it's first issued and that can't be detected to be cloned so when the magnetic strip's number didn't match up with the card number it put out the red flag.

I was very impressed with their response and I'm pleased to know that my money is insured 100%.

Wow, people are so freaking stupid. Glad they stopped it before the idiots kept going spending stuff though. It's really nice when you see that someone is looking out for things like this.
