Default Weather Peole

Here is a nice little write up from the storm coming to us on the northeast. Notice how the weather guys starts it all off by protecting his own ass. He isn't sure of anything but he wants to just lay it out there. HAHA to funy!

Quote:
This is the map everyone is eager to see. It has all the answers about snowfall this weekend. There have been subtle changes since yesterday, but in general the region we think will get hit the hardest remains about the same. Funny thing about those subtle changes -- I am a firm believer that storms do what they were destined to do, and we meteorologists have to figure the whole thing out. Simply, storms don't change directions in midstream, they don't have a mind of their own. Their path and intensity have been predetermined, perhaps days in advance. All our facts and figures sometimes cloud the picture, but usually we can sort through the whole mess and come up with some pretty beneficial information. That is our job as meteorologists, and our goal is to bring you the best possible information at all times.
So, here it comes, a major winter storm. The worst of it will occur from northern Virginia to southern New England where there will be at least 6 inches of snow, and perhaps as much as 12 inches. This graphic will be updated as necessary until the storm comes to an end.

"I am a firm believer that storms do what they were destined to do."

That's a great quality in a weather man, doesn't stand behind his facts and figures but rather states his faith based blief. "I have it on good authority that god has a cold and is sneezing alot, so it will probably be windy out."

The Meteorologist is correct. The exact science of this occupation regards analyzing mountains of data from weather stations and satelites. The assumption process regards weather modeling using past weather patterns to predict the direction and speed of the storm system with all that entails depending on the season of the year...this process will never change no matter how much technology is involved.

I'm also noticing that with more and more ways of being able to get the weather, i.e. online, to your cell phone, etc...they're trying to add more "fun factor" when giving the weather to try and keep everyone tuned in...eventually theres not going to be a need/demand for these people.

There are just more avenues to get the availabile weather info. but that info. still needs to be analyzed by meteorologists prior to it being sent to the public. Meteorologists are just like CPA's & Lawyers, they're always in need.

Micro shower bursts aren't steady bands of rain that can be detected and tracked over long periods of time, they build up quickly, release large amounts of precipitation, then disipate quickly again within a short square mile area. That's like the radar trying to find a needle in a stack of needles.

Don't you remember that group ride last year bill? Ron was giving us the whole predicition of the rain we were gonna get.

But personally i think weathermen suck. I know its hard to do what they do. But they now just predict stuff to get the ratings on there channel. "DOPPLER 9 million" blah blah blah.

They all suck but i still love the snow. Its good to eat. Just stay away from the yellow snow.
