Exclamation No headlight = close call

This morning I was making a left near the crest of a hill from a side road onto a main road. I looked left, it was clear, I looked right, it was clear, that took about 2 seconds. As I looked left again it was clear and I started to inch out, then a Honda 6RR came out of nowhere to my left...with no headlights. I was hard on the brakes even though I'd only moved about an inch.

The bike was black, had flushmounts that weren't lit, and the small third marker light in the front was burnt out or missing. The rider had on a black lid, tinted shield, and black leather jacket with jeans which made him near impossible to spot at a glance.

The bike had an aftermarket pipe but I couldn't see the brand at a glance, I heard it after he passed by. Cagers can't hear any approaching pipes with the windows closed, AC on, and music kickin', sound exits a pipe from the rear of the bike, not the front.

I was a bit shaken up shortly afterwards in realizing how bad that situation could've been. If I was a careless cager and didn't give a second head check it would've been a horrible morning for both of us, that was too close for him and he didn't even know it...I hope he got home today in one piece.

If the highbeams were on I would've seen him further down the road, be sure you're headlight works!

Be safe guys!

My headlight randomly goes out. Well it hasn't in awhile, but it did a few times. something in the wiring is shitty. but its real scary at night when it goes out! the times it did happen i was with other people but if i was alone on a backroad i would be fuuucked

Jake, FIX the bike.
Concern, sometimes the start button sticks in slightly and keeps the light circuit off.

the battery isn't bad.. the charging system on some 03s isn't very strong. I think you can switch out something from the 04s but I'm too lazy.

i do a 'pre-flight' check before i ride - i have to find the gremlin that causes my signals on my svs not to work on occasion.

Crest of a hill should be treated as a blind turn.

The charging system is the same, what you can do is get the heat shield from the newer bikes that basically surrounds the regulator (I did this to a friends bike )
