Dirt bike sizing
How much bike do I need at 5'7" 190lbs? Been seeing some 125s for under $1000 but wondering if they are big enough, should be right? I would be doing basic trails no MX, big jumps etc. I think I'm saying trail bikes vs motocross ones.

Any full-size motocross bike (125, 250, 450) is basically the same size.
That's like saying I'm a bike guy, should I ride a 600 750 or 1000. They are all pretty much the same seat height and dimensions. |
A 125 is not the best choice for a trail bike.. I am assuming 2 stroke..
You have to ride it very aggressive all the time since there is no bottom end power. 250F and 250 two strokes are totally different animals. 250f are good trail bikes and easier to ride but IMO 250 2 stroke is way more fun and a lot less $$ if something goes wrong. A 450 is a lot of bike.. maybe not the best bike to start out on. Also a 125 frame is usually smaller then a 250 and it feels like a mtn bike in comparison. IT is not much smaller.. in fact you might not be able to tell so good by looking at them, but ride it and you will feel the difference right away. In the end they are all fun. :ride: |
A KX 500 makes for a bit of a handful of a trailbike........I will say that :D

Have you ever ridden a motocross bike before? It doesn't feel like riding a streetbike. You feel alot more like you're sitting on top of the bike and less "in" the bike like you do on a streetbike. |

im 5'6 and weigh 145lbs....
for trail riding i would pick a 250 so i dont have to be so high in the revs all the time.... i rode both 125 and a 250.... get a 250 because you have alot of room to grow... i felt with my 125 i wanted something with a little more...ummmffff... balls but if your doing motocross i think a 125 2 stroke would be better.... but your not |
