If that stupid little light concerns you, perhaps you need to put this in there.

Consider it "an out." Get pulled over for speeding...as long as its not an insane amount over they'll usually look for something else to write ya...used to work when I had my plate mounted by the rear shock of the gix

Hey, I am all for "making it yours", but if it's going to attract attention you don't want or need, then trailer it everywhere, you won't have a problem. So why not just get a superwhite bulb? Most likely any LED will not have the proper viewable angle because the distance from the base to the lens is so short that it won't illuminate the whole lens.

You dont think an LED will be brighter? Where can I find a superwhite 12V flat base bulb?

LEDs may be brighter in a tiny spot but unless the lens was designed for an LED you will need a large cluster of LEDs to make the lens light up properly.
The bulb is common, your local Schlep Boys or wherever should have what you want. Even some auto stereo places carry them.
I'm not saying LEDs are always wrong, but typically they don't work as well if they are in what wasn't designed for them.
