Default Some help me with this....

This bill is scheduled to go in front of the Florida House of Representatives for consideration:

http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sectio...7&Session=2008

The long ang the short of it is any motorcyclist (specifically motorcyclist) who is charged for speeding >30mph over, or reckless driving, on the first offense, is subject to seizure and forfeiture of their motorcycle, permanent revocation of their motorcycle endorsement, and imprisonment.

************************************************** **

I want to write a letter to my local representative but I need someone to help me. I was never very good at coming up with things to write like this but I really want to help STOP this bill from being passed.

I know there are people in this forum that are excellent at doing such a thing and I am asking for your help. Please?

Either PM or post up here.

It is a little excessive if you ask me, but how many times did you find yourself doing 80+MPH in a 55 MPH zone without noticing youre going that fast. I used to have that wrist on the highways, before i knew it im doing 110 thinking im cruising when im actually reckless driving and speeding.

I no longer ride the street, and i say it is rediculous but if it takes the 1st seed of THOSE people who blast up and down highways at those insane speeds, maybe the rest of the people who ride motorcycles realize theres a zero tolerance with it now.

If you think about it you can say that it is profileing and I know in NJ its not legal. You can not regulate one group. If it applys to bikes it also has to apply to all forms of transportation cars, suvs, and so on. I dont think it will pass but if it dose we all need to worry.

Sounds like something for the AMA, if they deal with state level issues.... Not sure if they lobby just the federal gov't or not...

i htink that is very unjust...how can they take ur bike from you for going 30 mph over if thats the case they should take peoples cars to... cuz how many times have you had a car blow past you on the highway when ur just cruisin and not even breaking the posted speed...i know that sounds funny comming from me but i just cruise around cuz i dont feel like getting messed with

thats total bs that they are trying to pull that if thats the caes motorcycles should be outlawed in fl but i bet they would still be able to sell one to you

f..... them and tell them i said that

bucnh of theives they are and the sad part is they are trying to steal stuff from people legally

As someone mentioned on another forum how a law like this wont help but make the situation worse. If someone tells me there taking my license for such and such years for doing 80 in a 50mph well they better be ready to play cat and mouse with me at over 100mph cause I aint stopping. Stupid or not stupid for running I wont let a stupid ass law like this if it were to come to NJ make me loose my license. Its ok to do 80 in a 50 with my 87 Nissan truck that tops 90mph but if I go 80mph on a bike im going to loose my license? pfffft whatever.

Will probably just lead to more people running from the cops if they know they are getting their shit seized if they pull over.

but as the law stands now, if they get your tag and you run they can come to your house and get your bike, no questions asked. Plus running is a felony (I believe)

I think it's bullshit too. But if it IS going to pass, it better be for ALL vehicles. Not just motorcycles.

I would just ride around with your tag mounted very low or up far to where they cant read it and I would keep getting the tickets for it as long as there no points and all fines. Is it better to get a $50 plate ticket and no points? or get your bike seized if they catch you from your plate number? you pick lol.

I got last year 4 tickets for my plate being hidden which is alot but if you can put aside $200 a season you might be better off.
