Cool Windows Vista RC1

Anyone else installed the release candidate for Windows Vista?

I have RC1 installed, and the gui is awesome. Slightly different and of course a lot more graphics.

The issues I'm having so far have to do with windows explorer that crashes a lot when it comes to connecting to my external harddrive. I was having issues as well with "stand by" mode until I just disabled it.

Anyone else?

Tried it out on a few machines.... wasn't impressed.

They cut alot out while delaying it more and more. I'm wholly unimpressed. Its a few new interface items on top of the same old setup. Also, the way the locked out certain hooks to the kernel is going to be a severe liability with high end hardware, and will push alot of AV people away from Windows (or atleast stick with XP). The IT admin here at work wants to get all the PC's he can before they ship Vista - he doesn't want it on ANY machine in here, and he's a Windows guy through and through.

That's perfectly normal for windows.

What do you think of it in terms of a home PC? I'm a developer, and tend to install different OS' on top of the existing system through Virtual PC. So really all I care about is response and interface.

I've tried the "ultimate" version.

A waste. Response time is god awful imho, its unstable as hell - and likely to incur a whole slew of new security nightmares with their revised structure. If you're doing development, you might be interested in using Linux with Xen (as long as you have a processor capable of hardware-based virtualization), and using Xen, install unmodified guest operating systems with near-native speeds. This means windows, and in the case of the hacked version, OSX as well.
