First timer

Heh Im squared away with all the paper work. Unfortunately I cannot do the Riding Lessons because the hours for it does not work with my schedule I have work and I cannot call out sick for at least 3 weeks cause its crazy. I could get my license in three weeks though. But I live next to a bunch of motorcyclists. One whos been riding for over fourty years.

He wants to teach me. hes upset I got a rice rocket though. hehehe. I tell him, "its all I can afford but if you wanna give me a harley...."

There are plenty of people that have been riding thier 1st 6months of riding over and over for 40 years and never get better than their 1st 6 months. I am not diding your neighbor, but does he know how to teach or are you just relying on his experience? There are plenty of GREAT riders out there that can't convey anything either!

Why don't the MSF class schedules fit yours? There are severy types. Fri-sat-sun, sat-sun, mon-tue-wed. If you really want to do this right, you will make the time to.

Hes actually really experienced and has done cross country rides and stuff like that.

Spend the $$$ and get proper training..... all kidding aside. Its worth ever penny to learn from a professional... and you will save on your insurance too... for both bike and car

Well then I'll have to get the training after I am already riding the motorcycle. Cause my schedule is crazy.

That's fine, just stick to parking lots. Pick up a set of dome style soccer cones and practice the drills listed in the Rider-Ed booklet for the test. Even if you don't do that just stick to the basics in a parking lottill you feel comfortable enough to hit the road with someone who's experienced. And when you hit the road stay local and on low speed roads only, do not do any other type of riding until your classes are complete. If you feel that you're not ready for road time then just stick to parking lots till you can take the test.
