Default Memorial Day... Monday 5/28/07

Each year, for Memorial Day, I celebrate by going to Lime Rock Raceway in Lakeville, CT. It's outside of Sharon, CT. It's about 45 minutes east of Hyde Park, NY... anyway, I figured I would leave a posting and see if anyone else is interested in going.

This year, they are hosting the Rolex Series GT, the Koni Challenge GS, and the Speed TC races on Monday. Other events are taking place throughout the weekend, including a Hemmings car show on Sunday, which had some amazing cars last year. Unfortunately, I will only be able to attend Monday. So, if anyone is interested, here is a link to the hourly schedule. I usually try to arrive around 10ish, but they start practice around 9. Ticket prices are $45 for the day at the gate, and motorcycles have great parking at the top of the hill leading down to the Pits.

For those of you who have never been to Lime Rock before, it's a 1.5mile road course that gives you complete freedom. You have access to just about every section of the track, pedestrian bridges connect the infield to the outfield, full access to the pits all day long, which means you get to watch them work on the cars, and some teams don't put up any ropes, so you can walk into the tents and watch over their shoulders as they pick apart these cars, and some of the infield spots bring you within feet of the track (my favorite spot is right along the fense at turn 1, cars usually forget to brake and theres a killer amount of action trying to find their way into that first turn.

5 hours of racing with a lunch break after the first race. No seats, so bring a blanket, chair, or just use the grass. Coolers are allowed, so you can bring anything you want from food to drinks or both.

ROLEX GT FROM LIME ROCK 2006

KONI CHALLENGE GS FROM IOWA?

SPEED TC FROM UTAH
