Sept 03 with Lt. Dan and three other buddies only Dan and one of the three are still doing track days.
Had a blast and I was pissed that I didn't know about track days sooner.
Bill Sink, Foti, CBR Bob, and Ken Roberts were the coaches I remember

VIR South on a Sunday Memorial Day weekend May '04. CBR Bob and John Steven's were my instructors, took the class with 2 other friends whom no longer ride on the track. I had a 2001 F4i at the time, I remember being tired as hell after 4 hrs sleep but loving every minute of it. I think I picked up stuff pretty quickly, just had to get my body positioning down. Later in the day it started raining and my friends along with 1/2 the paddock wussed on going out. If you crashed, you failed ART Basic! I said screw it and went out and was passing a whole buncha people and felt awesome. Then coach pete wanted to bump me to red but I declined. Still remember sitting the paddock and lovin the sound of RC 51s blasting down the straight.

Well you know my answer since you were there, but november 2007 (last track day of the season) at shenandoah was my art basic class with Bill Sink on my R1. Aside from not feeling my toes and hands due to the temperature (30 degrees) and having Jim do a fly by an inch away from me on my first session it was an enjoyable day. The only downfall was the amount of time I had to wait for the next track day a few months later in March 08.

I didn't do ART basic either, although I wish I would have! Like Eric I started with NESBA and fumbled around the track with no clue what I was doing. My first instruction was PT with Glen last season at shenandoah and it was awesome.

Art basic was great. Took the class in the spring of 2003.
Rented a mille and Rob Lombardi and Mike Himmelsbach (I think) instructed the class. Loved it but was too involved with offroad to continue back then and I had a sport touring bike.

Skipped a few years before getting back to it and learned a ton more stuff from watching the coaches and listening to fast guys (Jimmy, Ant, Joe, etc).
Can't wait to get back on the track.

Cool Bob, some people just get it right off the bat. Those were the early days of TPM. I rode in white that day but it was empty, Pocono North. I officially never did anymore events because I worked the grid but would sneak out in red and white on my GS500.

2005, bill sink, pocono fusa on a '03 zrx1200.

bought the hf foldaway trailer to haul the bike (never used it again, to rickety for my likes).
rented leathers, failed tech initially b/c the throttle would not snap back (wd-40 to the rescue).

art basic was great but the 1200 was like driving a bus out there, so i got a gs500 then traded that for the sv650.

Summit Main, August 07 with Bill Sink.

Thought it was ridiculously slow but very helpful. Got bumped to Red the first session of my second TD.
