Next time I'll try to stick to emulating Rossi rather than Superman. Owwww.

Happened during the MRA Novice GTU race on Saturday at Pueblo Motorsports Park. I was on a set of Dunlop Sportmax GP's that I had used for 3 trackdays the weekend before, and they just weren't sticky enough to hold up to a competition pace. I should have taken warning after I slid the rear coming through turn 5 and then blowing it and going off-roading in turn 7 - but nooooo. After getting back on the track, I managed to pick off a few riders before the rear stepped out on me again on lap 6 in turn 9. According to witnesses (since the concussion knocked me stupid and I don't remember the crash), I gave it some throttle, slid the rear, regained traction, and weeeee! Classic highside.

This R6 actually belongs to a friend of mine. I was borrowing it for the weekend... now I owe her a new bike.

Yep. She's not particularly pleased about it - but she was in the same race I was and actually had to dodge me as I laid there on the track.

And yep - I'm not sure how it burned me through the suit. I'm guessing it just got the leather really hot and that the one spot that the back protector didn't cover. Actually, now that I think about it, if you look at the shape of the burn, it looks like it happened right at the lower left corner of where the back protector was.

Alright off to buy some new tires now....

New bruises have popped up today. I'm turning all sorts of cool colors now.

I'm assuming the bike DID flip once or twice, given the amount of damage to the upper front end. I mean, heavy scratches on the windscreen and a broken fairing stay? Ugh.

Next time you crash, take some wider shots instead of upclose pics of every single damaged piece.

Don't worry, it's a learning process. I can take the best crashed bike pics ever.

That must've been a horrible jolt to your spine, good thing you didn't break anything in your shoulder or neck area, sucks about the bike but at least you walked away.

I'm surprised I'm not hurt worse than I am. A few days later, and the only thing that's killing me is my lower back around the burn. I have a followup appointment with my doc tomorrow, so we'll see if I'm truly in as good of shape as I feel.
