The owner of the shop I work at also ownes an asphalt/paving company, and when the pictures of the repave underway came out, he immediately predicted a quick deterioration. The fact that cars were on it the next day had nothing to do with it, it was the lack of proper surface preperation and the just throw it down way they did it. According to an expert IF it was laid down properly you could be on it in a few hours and it would have had no problems.

on what Omar posted. At Beaverun TPM was on the next day and cars ran it during the week then TPM again the next weekend. The track held up for about 2 to 3 years before it needed patching.

Went to a track today with Roger Lyle at Summit Main...I couldnt believe how bad is has gotten. Atleast the last time I went you could visibly see where not to go, now they dumped all of this sealer on it so it all looks the same...1 horrible even the most inside path isnt great...3 looks scary, held all day for me but my buddy went down there. 5 is stupid, you have to take the inside line basically starting after 4...people will crash there. 6 is a mess...saw two crashes there. 7 is bad if you dont make the apex, rough with pot holes. And 10 you cant tell where the curbing is cause the paint has worn away, atleast on the inside. The rest is pretty good though.

I cant wait to watch the racing there this weekend....its going to be mayhem in turn 1 and 5.

Hmmm, yea I wonder if the seams will hold up. Some look to be in interesting places, like T1 and T6...why not just pave all of the way to the inside...looks good though.

Anyone coming this weekend?

I heard the same thing. I think the plan was to repair the track just to get through the season and then do a complete repave over the winter.

Shame really how they allow the facility to get trashed that quickly.

Went out to the CCS races today and the pavement looks pretty good. Some of the guys were running 11s, so it couldnt be all that bad! I saw Andy out there from TPM. And my buddy who needed this race to qualify for isle of man didnt finish due to a blown engine.
