Default Art Basic

Just figure I would throw this out there.. Of all the track crack addicts here.. where did you take art basic and what was your initial reaction?

I'll start the ball rolling.

Art Basic with Bill Sink - VIR Patriot.

I learned a great deal that day.. I took it with the FZ-1 Which was a tank for that track.. Extremely exhausting but learned that even a "street bike" was way more capable than I was as a rider at that time. I also realized how much I sucked. A year later I went back with the R6 and it was a whole other world. I should say that a dozen track days between the start may have also helped.

I started before Art basic was created, 1999. Back then it was a meeting with Glen to go over the track basics and the white group was coach lead most of the day. Depending on how well the group was sometimes the last few sessions of the day they were not coach lead.

ISM409 that would be Lou Kohoth who coaches with nesba now.

East... with ART Basic in a group all by themselves. It was fun after the first few sessions but considering how much I rode twisties I probably went slower all day then I did on the street. Then the first session in red was a rude awakening when I realized that I really sucked.

March 2002 VIR North. The instructors name was Alex. It was Myself, Bill Sink and our friend Sean Mueller. We all rode on the street together most weekends before going to the track.

Since then Bill is TPM's Lead Coach and ART Basic instructor.
Sean has won several WERA championships on an SV650.
And I'm just a knucklehead that thinks horsepower is the answer to going fast...
