Track gear = silly?
Why is the idea of wearing full body protection like on the track seem so damn silly while riding the street?
Does anyone actually do it?

If I still rode a sportbike on the street I would wear at least a two peice suit.
But, I dont.
I have to admit, when I'm out on my Valk I usually wear boots, jeans, gloves, a kiliminjaro jacket, & a helmet. Half helmet on warm days, full face on cold days.

Just putting around the neighborhood, i always wear a helmet gloves and jacket.
If we're riding deep into West VA or Ohio and the purpose is to ride, not pose, i wear full leathers and have a change of clothes on underneath if its cold... if not i have clothes in a back pack.

Not silly at all...pavement is pavement...dress for the crash, not the ride.

I take it you never busted your ass on the pavement?
as stated in SPRHK's sig:

To coin a phrase I overheard by someone else..
"The only thing he is ripping through is martinis.."

Make a fist, then just for a moment, briskly rub your knuckles back and forth across the pavement, that's just a small taste of what you're in for if leathers aren't on your person...and for the squids that try to talk you into thinking it looks silly, ask them the last time they've been down, I'm sure they won't have much to say after that.

I wear my jacket, boots, gloves and helmet all the time. Normally, I wear jeans except when traveling somewhere I will wear my two piece suit and just have clothes in my backpack.

Leather jacket, helmet, gloves, jeans & boots for me when I am riding on the street. Same goes for any passenger I have on the Valkyrie.
I have the scars from falling on the street with a t-shirt on, never again. I didn't wear my leather jacket because of 95 degree heat and I paid the price one night. Sweat is cooler than blood...I learned that the hard way.
A simple low side hitting some sand on the street almost cost me a skin graft in 1995.
