Default recomendation from Sharkskinz for repair of bodywork

I emailed Sharkskinz recently because of two reasons, I crashed my TLR which needs some patch work and I saw quite a few threads on various forums about guys being unsure which epoxy resin would be best for the task.
Sharkskinz recommended that I use West System Epoxy which is available at marine suppliers and also online.
I wanted to repair the bodywork and retain the flexibility that Sharkskinz was known for.

FYI
Ken

Ken I was just researching that last night! I have read tons of posts on the WERA board suggesting West Systems. I checked the website and their is a ton of different stuff so I am kinda confused on what you would need for a repair job.

Chris
I am about to order the West System 101 repair kit (Large) for about $30. I will also get some extra fiberglass cloth as well. The $30 kit should repair quite a bit of damage.

Don't you need hardener as well Ken? Nevermind Just saw that it came with it...looks like a good buy Ill probably get that stuff for a nice repair over the winter but for now Im going to get the stuff from pepboys for a quick fix. Let me know how it goes once you start working on the bodywork.

Hey guys just so you know. I just typically go to like autozone/advanced auto parts and pick up the fiberglass resin they bondo makes. Then pick up some fiberglass sheeting. I haven't had any problems using this can it makes a solid patch that is still flexable. Just thought I would throw in my two cents.

Mack that stuff works well too and probably what I'm going to use for my quick repair. But this stuff is similiar to sharkskinz quality being so crash resistant and still stay flexible as the original stuff. Rigid fiberglass doesn't crash well.

That looks like the right material to use.... the fact that they have several hardeners to choose from tells me it's quality stuff. Fast cure = more Brittle...
Thin buildup, slow cure = flexible

Ray's bike was a quicky job and I used (ah-hem) BONDO brand materials. He broke a few pieces off the uppers and misc other areas needed minor repair. I got the nickname almost 20 years ago when I was in the autobody field, although this was the first time I used that brand. Worked ok.
