36k on my '00 GSXR750 without a single problem (aside from regular wear parts)

I bought a crashed out '92 VFR750 streetfighter a few weeks ago, and the clock is stuck at 34k. The guy I bought it from has been riding it for 6 months (commuting & riding) without a working speedometer and odometer. Who knows how long it was riding with a busted clock before him, too. I'm estimating the real mileage of the bike at anywhere from 40k(lowest) to 55k+ There is no way to find out. All I know is that the thing fires up quicker then ever, runs and shifts smooth as butter, and goes like a bat out of hell. I plan on riding it for a long, long time.

I don't understand why so many people buy nice expensive bikes, only to ride 2-3k miles on them, then sell them? You barely get to know the bike in that kind of time frame!
