rear spring preload adjusters

I recently acquired a race tech threaded preload adjuster for my rear shock, I've noticed that it has no means of tightening after you have made your adjustment, am I missing something, or does the preload not back off while riding? I've been thinking about just safety wiring the shock above the preload adjuster to prevent backing off.

Can you post a pic? If it's the same as the Penski they dont have a lock collar. Mine has never backed out.
