re: wcIII
Have you been playing against the computer or people online? I love the game, but I only play against friends, that's where the fun is. And I'm not talking about using battle dot net either!

I used to play counter-strike and all that, but was never that good. I remember almost getting motion sickness from playing that game on a huge monitor! I don't think the ton of gummy bears I ate helped either.

on topic:
I also wanted to try WoW because I really like WCIII, but I will not be paying $14 a month for any one game. I pay enough with freaking Xbox live!

It's not WC I got bored of, it's just game like that. It's to "SciFi" for me. I'm basically anti anything with an elf in it.

But I rock at CS, which is probably why I love it so much. I basically stopped playing when all the hacks started to become readily available. Every noob had them and it just became lame.

I would actually try that RunEscape game since it's free, but I have no time to play now.

I started the free 10 day trial to World of Warcraft. (of course, I knew from the beginning I wasn't going to enroll to continue)

The graphics are pretty good, and I do enjoy the game, but it's slow in upping your level. It's definitely something to pass time. I wish it would allow you to run faster when going somewhere really far.

Yes! It's never too late though.

Thats why you get a hunter or druid, who both get speed bonuses at various levels.

And at level 40 you get a fast mount (horse, cat, mechanostrider, etc)....

I really dont find leveling to take too long, I cant expect to get to level 60 in a week, afterall... A few months is reasonable...

Well that explains a lot. I am playing as a druid! I'm barely getting to level 10. Oh well! It is hilarious watching to characters dance, etc.

Only level 10 and you are complaining it takes too long to level?!@? Getting to level 10 seriously takes about 4 hours or so or playing time.. the next 50 levels will take forever as it gets exponentially harder to level... This is the first and only MMORPG I have ever played, but from what others have said, its definately the best implementation and best playability of whats out there.

If you are serious about playing, thotbott.com is an invaluable resource for pretty much everything.

And most drugs are less addictive than this game, so i'd suggest people who arent already hooked stay away... stay far far away...

What happens once you get to say level 40? Do the quests get better? Is it the need to level up that keeps you addicted to the game? Is it user interaction?

When you get level 40 you get a mount that increases movement speed by 60%, so getting where you need to be is much better. Hunters get Aspect of the Cheetah at lvl 10 or 20 (I think 20) which gives them a 20% or so bonus which makes it a little better. Druids get travel form (cat form) at 20 or 30 which helps as well.

The quests in the game are generally the same... Either kill X mobs, gather X items, go find a place, or go deliver something to somebody.

The game doesnt have much of a prupose, like any game, I just find it fun and relaxing.

Interacting with others is sometimes nice, but sometimes it sucks too...
