antivirus/security software
the "free trial" stuff that came with the laptop Michelle got me is expiring, and it wasn't all that great in the first place, so I wanna get a new one and I'm not sure what antivirus software I should get. I was leaning towards on of those suits that have the antivirus/antispyware/firewall/etc... all in one thingies. I'm no expert so I wanna see what you guys are using or what you would recomend.
Checking around I'm thinking of either the Norton or Kaspersky, or maybe the Bitdefender. They all seem like good products and well rated.
So any of you pc gurus out there, what do you think? Any of those, or would you recomend another?

If you are going to pay for anti-virus Eset NOD32 is the best but, if you want free anti-virus then I would go with AVG.

I bought Kaspersky from someone but haven't had a chance to install/test out. It's the 3 license bundle. I'll PM ya to give ya some input. Hoping to get it done this weekend.

AVG is good for Free.
If you going to pay. Webroot is a good product and does virus and spyware.
Symantec(Norton) and McAfee suck up CPU and memory. Symantec does find viruses but didn't stop them before they were installed and required a manual effort to remove. Webroot found it before it was installed with not extra work.

I am using Trendmicro because I get to use it for free as a Rutgers employee.
If I was ever gonna pay I would stick with Norton. I am not a big fan of those all in one suites though. I feel that they eat up a lot of valuable memory for not really doing all that much. So it I did do Norton it would be the stand alone antivirus.

I like to think that different software security companies can produce good antivirus software protection, while their adware protection for example can sometimes not be as good as others available,.
What I'm trying to say is, you don't have to get all your software from one company, sometimes variation is a good thing!
Hope my first post/rant went down well because there is more moaning to come :p
