gear-wearing vs. squid discussion. So who thinks it's cool to ride without gear and why?

You should never ride a wheel chair without the proper gear.

Fingerless gloves and a wheelie bar are required.

I am on the fence with this argument. Wear gear for sure when u r riding agresivelly. Local riding u can get away with no gear but at least jeans boots and gloves. I am definitely not a gear nazi

Honestly, I break the law everyday I ride my bike. I wouldn't consider myself a squid, when you are on a machine as capable as a modern sportbike, it is only natural to wring in out every once and a while. As far as street riding gear goes, I always wear jeans, (combat)boots, and gloves. Sometimes the gloves and T-shirt combo looks goofy, but the controls feel better that way for me. When it starts to get cooler, I'll throw on my leather jacket.

I never even leave my driveway without my helmet and gloves on. The vast majority of the time I wear my jacket, jeans and boots unless I'm just running up to the gas station which is only 3 blocks away. I laugh every time I see a guy on a bike without at least a helmet on.

I think whatever you can afford...seriously...

If you're a poor biker, wear whatever, but if you got money to burn, buy the best gear...bottom line, enjoy what you du because if a fuckin Mack truck hits you, you'll end up under the tires anyway....end of discussion. :biggthump

If you hit pavement at 30mph you will lose a layer of skin every inch you slide. You will lose your jeans at 6 1/8th inches.....I'll keep wearing my gear

I'd prefer to not wear gear... when I was younger and lived in a state that didn't require a helmet... I rarely wore any gear at all.

Now that I'm older and live in a state where helmets are required, I tend to wear more gear.

I typically go out in a helmet and either a mesh or leather jacket and boots. I will skip the gloves now and then.

If you're going thru the effort of gearing up why skip the gloves?

since i bought full leathers i feel obligated to get my moneys worth, so i wear them most times i leave my driveway. but funny thing, when i DO go out in just a jacket and jeans, i feel naked and super vulnerable.

I ride on the street fully covered. It may not be full jacket/riding pants but no short sleeves, shorts or without gloves or helmet. Usually high top sneakers.
At the track in the pits, shorts and a t-shirt.
