Default TiVo & digital cable box

Does anyone else here use TiVo with digital cable. I have everything set up correctly as far as I know.

The small pain in the ass problem is that it takes a whole second to change the damn channel because I'm using the infrared linkup that relays that channel change command to the cable box.

Basically, you change the channel, the screens blanks out, and you'd think the next channel would show, but no, it goes back to the same channel, and then flips the channel! arrrgh!!!

Does anyone know a way to make this quicker. I'll do some research on tivo dot com when I get the chance, but I figured I'd bring this up here first.

FYI - I have comcast and the small black motorola box.

It's slow... I think there is a setting somewhere to speed up the signal but at the end of the day there is still a noticeable and irritating delay.

3 letters, DVR. I have it for Cablevision, Comcast should have it too.

Ya DVR is great the only thing it doesn't do is anticipate what type of shows you like But do you really need that plus Tivo is expensive and you get a message at the bottom of the screen for cable and on top of the screen for tivo right ?

I like the "season pass" that TiVo has versus the record this channel at that time with the comcast DVR. I rather like TiVo's interface more as well. With the season pass, or setting a recording for a show or movie, if you miss it, or the time table has been changed (which happens a lot with my anime on cartoon network), it'll automatically record the show at the updated time.

I guess I'll have to live with the time delay for the channel flipping! *sigh*
At least the guide helps in seeing what's on the other channels before switching!

What I also like about DVR is its in 1 box. Less clutter.

I agree with you on that. Funny enough though, they now have a the cable boxes as small as 3 to 4 inches wide. One of the good things about the comcast DVRs is that they also record in HD.

Yup...same with Cablevision...20hrs HD or 90hrs(something like that) regular. It's probly the same box. Love the HDMI too.

It's 12/13 bucks a month compared to $10 a month for cablevision and comcast if I remember correctly.

Check TiVo dot com for their new promotions, they have some funky promotions going on right now.

If you're into HD TV, then the DVR is definitely better.
