Just don't use K&N air filters on your bike.

I've been using K&N filters on my bike for about 6 months with no problems. Why should I switch?

i use scotts oil filter. i just clean it and reuse it as much as i want. pays for itself after 8 oil changes and if you do track alot its very very cost effective.

What cleaning agent do you use to clean a dirty oil filter? Cuz obviously soapy water wont work.

I put 37,000 miles on my last air filters, one in the airbox another on the crank case (breather), each was cleaned before every season. It was part of their stage 2 jet kit with the full yosh race system I installed. Also switched to their oil filter being it had a higher inbound outbound flow rate than honda's OEM filter..all that bike needed was to BREATHE!

scotts oil filter is a stainless steel filter. after i take it off i just soak it in kerosene or some times i just spray it down with Maxima clean up and rinse it off. there is a tiny piece of magnet on it that collects the metal scrappings. i spray it with compressed air too just to make sure its really clean. it does a great job.

There is nothing wrong with K&N, but just don't expect a performance increase like in cars. The only benefit it really offers is cleanability / forever use. People that say it actually screws up the bike or loses HP are full of shit.
I like my suzuki OEM filter, glad to see it rated well.

I don't have numbers available but bikes have been known to actually lose horsepower after switching from the OEM filter to a K&N, but I'm not sure if the bikes tested had aftermarket exhausts and other engine/exhaust mods or not.
(guess this went from an oil to air filter thread now )

if you are talkin about the air filter, yes it is true. there has been several of people claiming that already over at r1 & r6 forum. there has also been claim that the BMC race filters let too much air through and doesnt "clean" the air as well as OEM filters. so far the best bet is to go with the OEMs cause they seem to be doing the best.
