American Standard?
Renovated the guest bathroom in my fiancee's condo this weekend. Paint, new floor, and a new bowl (the previous owners cracked the old one.) So I go out to Home Depot, picked up the "cadet 3' by American Standard. Get the thing home, install it...leaking, pull it up, check the wax ring, reinstall...still leaking all over my brand new floor. Pull it up again, flip it upside down to see what the fack is going on...turns out there is a hair line crack in the porcelain. Noticed an interesting stamp on the new thrown...Made in Mexico, by American Standard...should have figured. WTF is this world coming to?
Anyway, back to HD to get a new one, no problems. Just kind of ironic.

When you say change, do you mean that production will return to the states? because it left a LONG time ago...

And in a few years American Standard will go under and come begging for money from congress to stay afloat claiming they employ a large number of people in the american workforce and don't want them to loose their jobs

Noticed the same thing on the new bowl I put in last month.. Had to get the champion, as I tend to clog things up...
I did have to replace the first bowl I got tho before I even installed it... Some minor inconsistencies in the porcelin that I didnt like...
Better than the Kohler tub/surround that I bought which I believe IS made in the great USA.. The first one was damaged... 3 others in the store were also damaged.... Had to go to the store in Eatontown to find one that was acceptable, but still very slightly damaged...

I looked at the Kohler, but the rating wasn't even close to the Cadet. Plus, it was more expensive. They must pump these bowls out by the second, because a lot of the castings looked inconsistant. I didn't realize that with a "high efficiancy" bowl, you would get so much less water in the actual bowl itself. I get the idea of it, but it is noticably less.

I've found that all these large "home product" store have a lower quality level of the same item that you would find in a plumbing supplier or electrical supplier.
