That reminds me of this picture of Jeff Emig at the 1992 MX Des Nations. And no, he didn't crash here.....the friggin bike is nearly parallel with the ground

If he leaned it like a sportbike he would have binned it.

Riding a supermotard the correct way is totally different than riding a sportbike. Since I do both, I've had to change my style on the SM in order to go faster. When I 1st started riding the sm, I was more or less doing it the roadrace way (knee out). After a season or two of getting schooled by the mx style riders, I had to change.

And yes, it feel very weird.

It's just a so different way/style of riding. If you don't come from a mx/flat track backround (I don't) you would think it's the wrong way to do it.

Here is a pic of Ward and Fillmore (Fillmore is also a fast roadracer and Ward needs no introduction) and the correct body position in a turn.




FWIW, come out to E-Town for a SM practice or race and watch how the fast guys and pros ride.
