Once I commuted to work on the bike - it was a whole 40 miles back and forth.
When I got home I collapsed on my bed and slept for 18 hours.

I don't know about number of miles as the best indicator, I can ride 10 to 12 hours and not really go more than 400 or 500 miles. Depends on average speed and the type of roads you're riding. I've done ~700 in a weekend on back roads, basically no highway. That's like 10 to 12 hours a day. I think my max in a day on my gix is about 300 or 400. I did probably that on my monster too.
