Default Suzuki Rectifier Recall

I just had this done on my K9 gsxr6. It apparently affects many different 2008-2009 models. I noticed after they brought the bike back out that the new rectifier was warm, almost hot to the touch still. I never paid attention before, but doesn't it take a while for the device to start generating some heat or is it pretty early in the warmup cycle?

I'm concerned that they didn't actually replace it. I've yet to research revised part numbers for the updated non defective rectifier vs the bad one.

Your battery may have been very discharged. They get pretty hot when charging hard. They probably had it running for a while back there. Doesn't the part look new(er)?

Thanks Bob. The bike has 1200 miles on it. The parts look identical. I'm pretty sure my battery was ok. I was riding it all morning with some on and off then waited for 1/2 hr at the dealer while they replaced the part.

I spoke to a CS Rep at Suzuki and he stated there is no revision. They just re-ordered a bunch of rectifiers and decided to replace all because "some" bikes were having issues with shut off. He stated for my application there was 2 possible part numbers(first and second choice, whatever that means):

32800-18810-RX0
32800-47810-RX0

Unfortunately he didn't give me a straight answer when I asked how can get peace of mind if I suspect the dealer did not actually replace the part. He said there was a god chance I may not even have a defective part. I was looking for a more positive resolution.

In many cases if the dealer replaced the part and submitted the warranty they are required to send the old part back to the manufacturer or not get paid. So your peace of mind is that if they didn't replace it they don't get paid, so what incentive to they have to not replace it, and it cannot be noted as replaced in the vehicle database. If you want PM me your vin and I'll check to see what notes are associated with it
