Default air filters

i bought my 929 w/ a k&n filter. but i heard these let in dirt. i don't really care about the few extra horses if any it gives. would it be better to switch back to stock or is there a better air filter(not terribly expensive) out there?

I've run K&N's on most my bikes for the last 15 yrs. I have never had a problem with them letting in dirt. What you need to watch is that you keep it cleaned and oiled. If you let them get all dryed out, it will compromise the integrity of the filter element and it can tear or get holes in it. K&N offers a cleaning kit complete with spray cleaner and oil.

There is a report floating around some where that shows K&N filtered bikes put out less HP than stock filters. I think it was actually tested on a 929 as well as other bikes. Just take this as hearsay unless someone has a link to it. I might have gone crazy.

Proof, I had my 929 dynoed and tuned with a stock and a K&N. Sell the K&N on eBay and buy a new stock Honda filter.

more horsepower from an ail filter, thats just silly. What, +.5hp? Completely irrevelant. Good thing about a k&n is you put one in and basically forget about buying a new one. Pop it back out every year or 6 months and clean it up!
