Yeah I don't find it likely but DAMN that'd be cool... how many race tracks are there in the US that are dead in the middle of a city... I'll give you ONE guess...

They have yet to decide what they want to do with ground zero and here comes Newman introducing a race track...at Englishtown alone the residents have tried year in year out to close it down....what kills me is that several of them bought their homes nearby knowing the track was there and all the hoopla that goes along with it. This is just for news sake, a story to post they should really stop jerking around and get peeps hopes up.

Too bad it probably won't happen. I would love to be able to ride a track thats less than 2 1/2 hours from my house....I'm 6 miles from there.....
Another reason why I did'nt/won't vote for Rep.Anthony Wiener (DIck).

Dano is right, Weiner is an asshole. He'd rather fight for the liberals to keep a dilapidated military airfield so that they can throw granola at the seagulls and watch sea turtles mating through binoculars than have something that actually generates jobs and money into another depressed/dying section of the city.
Great idea, wrong place to get it done. The city has had plenty of opportunity to do something with that piece of land since before we were alive. It's just destined to be what it is, a dilapidated former military base. Once the Coast Guard vacated the property for Sandy Hook, hardly a dime gets spent there.
Gateway National Recreation Area is one of the eyesores of NYC. Fed Gov't won't even plant grass on any inch of that shorefront park. Worst thing that happened to NYC. Huge tract of property that gets literally ZERO maintenance or upkeep.
Better off trying that at the Staten Island Landfill as proposed in the past. At least the City won't have to fight the Federal Govt for permission to do it there.

Yet year after year all you city folk keep cloggin up the parkway and local highways trying to get there over the summer! haha
I doubt it will get built, maybe if the land was privetly owned there would be a slight chance. Since it is a government owned park it will probably stay that way, also it may fall into the wetlands category, which in NJ is a big no-no unless your willing to spend the money and time to make new wetlands somewhere else. I heard on the radio it could be a nascar track which would take some heat from the EPA, nascar is one of the few organizations that still uses leaded fuel. People in general seem to be against things being built anyways, espicially alrge scale projects, plus they got the noise arguement.

I thought there was already a race track in brooklyn, it's called fountain ave.
I spent many friday nights there in my youth.
But seriously there is a track being developed in montecello ny. it will be an auto club that will open up several days for public racing. I'll find the link later and post it.
