I would opt for sitting on the bike myself.

FTP....honestly the whole cop thing is out of hand. They have way to much discretionary power. Damn I mean who is really becoming cops. Not the best in the brightest (they are becoming laywers, doctors, etc.(if you want to shoot a gun and chase bad guys then go into the millatary other countries don't have these problems)) and we let these people not only carry guns but give them power. Just my piece.

On the topic....hell no they shouldn't be permitted to tell you to do that. You've stopped and pulled over there is no need for that kind of treatment. Also I think that if anytime a biker got pulled over for no reason they filled a complaint on the office and wrote a letter to thier congressman about harrassment maybe it would stir the pot a little.

Good point Dave, if this was done collectively it could have an effect.

FTP!!! Cop this weekend yelled at a couple of us for slowing down traffic when our friend went down on an entrance ramp. He lowsided and was alright but his bike fuked. So Mr. Stick up his ass is yelling at us to get off the ramp when a car locks up his brakes and almost rear ends him. Not too mention he wouldn't let us pick it up with a truck because the wrecker was already there. So the wrecker was nice enough to charge $80 for the pick up. So I say FTP and there powertrip ways!!!

I got friends that are cops but there are too many assholes on a power trip. Even some of friends. Most of them are pretty cool but at least one or two of them that if I didn't know them I wouldn't like them at all. So I stand by FTP!!!
