It was Hondas attempt to take advantage of the 2 cylinder rule advantage back when 4 cylinder bikes were limited to 750ccs.

Damn...
I should have held onto my RC...LOL
FYI, I sold mine for $7900 last fall, loaded with goodies. Similar deals are out there. Good place to look is the classifieds on Speedzilla.com
There's a dedicated RC51 message board there as well as a dedicated Honda classifieds section.
Another source of RC51.org but you have to join. Incredible site dedicated to the RC51. They have a classified section there too. Lots of fully modded bikes for much less than $11K

Another bike to look at is the Aprilia Mille Factory. Same concept, nicer machine.

So is it an 06 or an 07?
And what da hell is wrong with it since he's selling it for $4000 with motor work??? Thats about $4000+ less than what its worth.
Something sounds fishy.

A liter bike for your first street bike? Be careful man, you should go for the 600 instead.

dude, i really hope that this is not your first bike?! CBR1000 is NOT a good first bike and in my opinion not even a good SECOND bike.
im not gonna preech safety to you, as im assuming that you know that a 1000cc bike has more power than some cars do, and it weights 1/10th of a cars weight.
remember that its more fun to ride a slow bike fast, then a fast bike slow.
