Default Choppers too cool for running lights?

Within the span of 10 miles on the same road, on three separate occasions today, I spotted choppers heading my opposite direction without their headlights/marker lights on, and on passing I spotted the same regarding their taillights as I glanced in my rearview mirror. I was hoping I wouldn't see one of them get rear ended as he was stopped at a major 4 lane 4 way intersection making a left turn in the left lane (no left turn lane), then as a Jeep approached it almost happened, good thing for him ABS is standard on cages. Their very thin dark silhouette can barely be seen by someone like me who has great vision, I don't know how they mange to stay alive with vague hand signals.

Remember, if you ride a metal dick like many people do, you don't need lights, signals or a real helmet.

My friend just dropped $30k++ on an American Ironhorse, brand new. It's left him stranded once so far. He bought it last week. But it's got lights when it runs.
