Default Extra Money

I was wondering what some of you would do if you had extra money to invest. What would you do with $20- $30k to make some extra money?

Real estate. If you can sit on something for a while until the market goes back up you might be able to turn around and make a real nice profit.

If you aren't doing anything exciting with it... in the meantime put it in a CD or something that will get you some nicer interest. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. ING Direct has a liquid savings account that'll give you 4.5% and you can keep it liquid, or a short term CD for that amount should get you a little over 5% at local banks.

Otherwise you have lots of different options depending on what your needs/wants are. You have to figure out if you want to invest in something that has a high return potential, but relatively dangerous and run the possibility of losing $ or something safe.

You could give me 15k and I'll buy my 1098. When I tire of it, I'll give it to you.

CD's are only good for real short term...like less then 1 year. The yield curve is flat. HSBC has an online account that pays 5.05%. Mike is right though for 1-3 years the market is good since it just went down so much.
