Default IrocRob's Summit Point Experience...

Summit Point - Sunday, July 1 at Jefferson & Monday, July 2 at Main

Okay, for my 17th track day, I thought I'd do something memorable.

So I crashed.

I lowsided in T1 at Jefferson (running clockwise) - This was after lunch,
so I had plenty of laps where everything felt fine. There is no obvious
reason I can point to, nothing on the track, not way off line, etc.
Just screwed up a little bit too tight on that lap, and the front tucked
in REAL QUICK; there was no little bit of pushing that I could ride through.
So I picked the bike up and pushed it out of the way, and sat out the next
few laps on the tire wall watching the rest of the session. I ended up being
done for the day, missing 2 or 3 sessions. No pain or injuries at all.

Scuffed up my leathers a bit, but they're big heavy Vansons so they still
look good, as far as safety goes anyway.

Helmet is untouched.

The bike needed a new frame slider (Thanks TPM) and a brake resevoir hose
(Advance Auto Parts - Open on Sunday!) to be rideable for Monday.
Windscreen is gone, fairing stay is bent(and then cut off), plastics
are scratched up on the right, upper cowl is broken(and then cut off),
headlight mounting point is broken.

I'll have to start taking things apart to see if anything else needs TLC.
It may be time to turn this into a track bike...

Other than this little incident, a good weekend. As the pictures show,
the bike must have been almost inverted to damage the top of the tail
section and the fairing stay and plastics.

I wish I had a picture of my butt slide off into the grass...must have
been just a little amusing to watch.
