All you had to do was call Nick, I told you that. But yea no problem.

And if there isn't a 520 chain on there already, I would say you have to change it converting to a 520 set up. If you go bigger in gearing, then the old chain may be too short depending.....but 520 is a thinner chain so my advice get a new one....sorry Dave I know you're trying not to spend too much money

I'll call your EVR2 & raise you an EVR3 and a on the AFAM.

You should always replace the chain & both sprockets. If the chain has formed a wear pattern it will cause premature wear on the sprockets (mostly for aluminium) and vise versa; unless you race & change ratio alot, but then your shits gonna wear out faster anyway.

Most new chains will have enough links to cover ratio changes. Ron will of course get'cha the right stuff.

just so everyone knows I'm just going to replace the whole set up....figure what the hell I have 14K on the sprockets and chain now so I'll just do it all at once instead of trying to take the cheap way out....it ussually cost more in the end if you do it that way

I would suggest you replace the sprockets and chain altogether at the same time man.

Speaking of changing sprockets. Billy when you changed yours last year, what did you go to and why? I know some changes are made for low a little more low end power, versuses loosing some top end speed.

I never knew what was right or wrong.

My stock is a 16/48.....I went to 16/50.
I may have lost 5mph in the top end, the low end has a little more torque. As Darryl said when he rides it in the parking lot, he says it feels like a 750.
Spyder rode it as well and says it's quick as hell for a 6.
Jay rode it too and was impressed.
I was gonna go 15/50 but Ron of course explained why I shouldn't and how the pitch of the chain changes causing the chain to wear fast and did not recommend that set up. You can take it for a ride whenever you want and feel the pull in the low and some mid. Then take it from there if you wanna do that to yours. But do it fast before I end up selling it.

And Ron....I know that's what he said, I was busting his little white nuts.
But if you're buying, I'll have a cup anyway

You just did it cuz you like the pizza pie sprocket with the pepperoni holes...so you lose about 5 mph in the top end and get worse gas mileage than D's busa.

Nah, it's a good move, I might do the same thing to my 6 in the future, it's worth it for the street...let me know when you want that cup.

I just did a chain-sprocket replacement on my bike as the chain was failing at 17k but the sprockets were fine. Overaul I went with an RK X-Ring chain with a 14 tooth upfront and a 40 tooth in the rear. The stock gearing is 15-40. The drop is noticeable as the bike pulls alot harder overaul and requires less downshifting. With the drop upfront I didnt have to change the chain links as it will work with the stock 108 length chain that the 15-40 uses.
