Cold Track info - Sportbike Addicts

It looks like I may be in for a cold track day this coming Monday with the highs reaching 48F. How much does a cold track effect traction? How about tire pressure/temps? Any advice on cold days at the track...besides to stay home?

Yeah... go easy... lots less traction when tires cant come up to temp...

use street tires if you got em since they are designed to work at lower temps

oh.... and have fun

You'd be surprised how much grip you can have in cold temps when the tires are warmed up and you have proper tire pressure. Just go easy a couple laps I pretend like I'm riding in the rain.

take off very easy at the beginning of each session. As for pressures, I always check mine AFTER coming off the track so I look for about the same nomatter the ambient temp

Take it easy on your first lap. Make sure your tires are warm..

This is a good way to go no matter what the temp if your not using warmers

Dont forget that your suspension will feel firmer in the cold. The oil get's thicker as the temp goes down...

Your not going to set a track record in 48 degree weather, but you'll still have fun and it beats a day at work, which most of us will be doing.

Yeah, along with the oil in your steering damper. I almost fell over in the pits on one cold morning...
