Default big bash or no

I'll be turning 30 soon, and I have a little one on the way.

I'm paying off a lot of things before lil' G gets here, which means money's a little tight.

Am I crazy to even think about throwing myself a 30th b-day bash (big milestone). I'm trying to be mature about things and am considering reasons not to spend the money for this (over $2000).

Has anyone not had one of those milestone parties(21st or 30th, bachelor party, etc.) and has regreted it?

I'd hate to not do anything for 30, and try to make it up with 31.

I think 30 is a good mile stone. I've always looked at it as:

13, 18, 21, 30, 50, 75, death

30 is good, either that or you must wait till 50.

Just do something on the DL.

I don't know your financial situation, but $2k seems pretty steep.

If you are even considering regret as an option, then you probably will.

I don't do DL well! I gotta come out broke at the end of it! I'm trying to invite about everyone I know! I'm sure I won't have a chance to do anything like that after I have a kid.

Of course 2000 is how much I'd have to pay for hall rental, food, etc. I could just go out to the clubs with all the friends, but I was trying to spare them having to spend any money on me.

I just know the wife doesn't even like the idea of my thinking about spending that much cash on my own party!

No offense but in all honesty I thought you were an 18 year old kid.

Ok, having said that, $100 buys you a nice keg of beer and chips and pizza aren't that much. Do that, it will be much more fun.

I think 2K is alot to spend...the most impo. thing is to have fun w/ family and friends...doin' whatever..I don't think spending $$ is what makes it. If you DO have a private gig hit me up if you need a kickass bartender.

2K isn't too much for a party. I spent close to that on our fourth of July party this year. You only turn 30 ONCE unless your a woman.

I'm trying to find alternatives to the $2k, 'cause the reality is I can't comfortably afford it. Anything else that's cheaper doesn't have what I want other than going to a club and getting in for free and have most of my friends get in at free/discounted rates. I was trying to find an environment where I could control this option.

I found a place that was quite cheap, but it's just a restaurant with a bar, no room to dance. Gots to have room to dance!

Ant... I'm 18 in bike years.

Shel.. the money is just for the party with friends, the family fun always happens regardless!

Can anyone suggest any better options for a party hosting about 35-50 people?
