Default on board video camera..

I want to give it a try, what the hell, why not.

What are you using if you do, and wheres the best site to get one.?

Do they have them with the stability/shake control (whatever it's called) where as if the camera shakes the picture being recorded won't.

I am using a kit from a guy selling mini-dvr setups on the WERA message board for $235.
pretty simple and easy to set up. There are a few sample video's linked to the thread so you can see the quality of the footage.
I should have it set up for my next track day.

It depends what you want to do with the final video.
If you just want to post your clips on youtube and websites then the setup that Ken got or something similar is the way to go... If you want to be able to view them on your big tv and make dvd's the only way to go is a minidv as the picture quality is the best you are going to get.
MiniDV has two drawbacks though..
1.The recorder is obviously bigger and weighs more.
2. Transferring it to your pc can only be done in real time..you can't just copy a file over like you can using a dvr.

I have a samsung "Sports Camcorder". It has 1 gig of internal flash memory and can accept SD cards for external memory. The camera sits under my seat and it has a remote lense that I have mounted to my fork tube.
Image stabilization works great.

I think this camera has been discontinued but Samsung has a few new ones that look real good too.

I was looking at a few on-line places today and found bullet cam accessories. I had to give the make and model of my camcorder and they send the bullet cam with a 10ft wire the fits into my A/V jack for my type of camcorder.

for $240 I got the mounting bracket for my camcorder, mounting bracket for the bullet cam, 6 lens protectors, 1 wide view lens, on/off switch (which is probably good this way I don't have to keep it on play while i'm sitting in pit, i can start it and stop it at anytime on the bike)

and for an additional $29.99 I got another bullet cam, mount and toggle to switch from front view to rear view if i want to at anytime.

Just remember at a TPM day if your using a camera it must be inaccessible while your riding. So mounting it on the tank is not going to work.

John,
This is the system that I have used for years and it works great. I mount the video camera in the tail like you said and have a remote switch to turn everything on and off. I also ran the power for the bullet cam directly to the battery with a switch and in line fuse. On my last bike I mounted the bullet cam in the center of the nose on the upper (in the very front). This worked out real well. I have been to lazy to do that yet with the bike I am on now.

I know this is hard to read but I got this one and it came with a recharable battery + charger, mounts, 520 line camera, AA battery holder.

Here is an example of the camera mounted as a helmet cam attached to a Sony MiniDV recorder.

Here's 2 videos from the camera Omar loaded me. http://www.goprocamera.com/ I used a 1 gig SD card which is good for 1 session. It's a self contained unit that uses 2 aaa batteries. If you want one see Omar.
