This is one of the best seasons to ride, there's nothing better than experiencing the Fall colors from the mt. lookouts on a sportbike. Just mind the tire pressure and cruising speed, watch out for wet leaves and road debris. This is not the time of year to push the bike on the back roads, save that for the latter part of next spring.
Dress in layers and if you have full leathers that's even better in blocking the cold wind chill. Balaclavas http://www.campmor.com/images/cloth/larger/92872_l.jpg are excellent head gear & http://www.thenorthface.com/na/ offer excellent warm baselayers also. Keep in mind that the wind chill can be 10-20* cooler than the standing outside air temps, i.e. if the outside temp's 50* dress for 30* temps. Fall and Winter are tough to dress for being rides usually start in the cold hours of the morning so be sure to dress for those temps as they won't rise till mid day which now is about 3pm. Don't avoid putting on too many layers as they can always be removed as the day gets warmer. The body's reaction slows the colder it is so always keep warm.

I usually ride until the snow hits the ground.
the other day I hit a turn as my helmet fogged and took it totally on reference points. needless to say I was shook. The hardest part is getting use to your crotch going numb.

I ride until it gets below 30, which is extremely rare here.

Well, it was 30 when I rode in. It was 50 when they dropped out. Can I say that the class started with 6 women and 5 men and we are down to 3 women now? I have to give the remaining 3 credit!

No, Scott was off this weekend but I was teaching with his wife Mary.
The people that leave/fail/etc. don't get a refund. They paid for their spot, if they vacate it for whatever reason, thats it. :cries: All I can say it was cold and somewhat windy. Some people don't quite understand what being outside for a few hours in the wind in late October will do to you if you don't dress properly.
