Why is that nice?

People in NJ are the _WORST_ drivers second to massachussets. If lane splitting is made legal, the amount of motorcycle accidents will increase dramatically(but atleast i wont get pulled over for passing people at stop lights!!)

"Accidental" and the "Road Rage" ones..

I have to agree here...drivers are oblivious as it is, people will see bikes lane splitting and not know whats going on. They would need to somehow draw attn to it like spraying a mini lane on both sides of the dotted line.

i work on the highway and it doesn't matter if you put lines, signs, and/or flashing lights. people are going to get in you way and hit/kill you.
one time a guy went around the cones and arrowboard then back in the cones to hit a state trooper working w/ us with his red lights on. claimed he didn't see any of the stuff and he was sober. and the stories go on......
as sick of it all says"never under estimate the stupidity of man"

We ride and drive in this state, we should already know what to expect. We have to be aware of everything around us. It's good if at least we don't get a ticket for passing by stand still traffic when it's so easy for motorcyclists to get through.

The law will be good and bad like any other law in the state, but I split lanes anyway when the traffic is bumper to bumper so my bike doesn't overheat. Too many people do too many things while driving and don't care about us bikes.

Hey Bob, I assume Turkus (sp) will be on the task force and is the motivating force behind the proposed legislation.

Done...but I still have mixed views about this. Being a fellow rider I'm all for the idea for obvious reasons that all of you understand. But this law's about to be passed in one of the most heavily populated states per capita in the US, and I don't think cagers are going to give a hoot about the new law, that is if they even care to hear about it. Plus instead of having a few bikes willing to break the law, there will be hundreds more abiding by it between the cars, this can make for a very bad situation on both sides. However the one advantage to this law is that if it's passed and some moron decides to cause deliberate harm to a motorcyclist there can be legal charges brought to the offender. We'll see...

Yeah its good and bad, BUT I mean you also have the choice to slipt or not to. If you feel it won't be safe try to chill out and bake in the sun and wait......
