US soldier serving in Iraq is treated with disdain!!
Has anyone heard of this? It is verified on snopes.
The story appears here:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/apo.asp
The name of the business is Bargain Suppliers and here is their website, address, and phone number:
http://discount-mats.com/
Bargain Suppliers
3259 S.106th Street
West Allis, WI 53227
To reach us by phone, please call us between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. central time: 414-736-8394
Personally, I find their response outrageous. Maybe we should bombard this shithole of a company with emails and phone calls.

Correct, it's not against the law. He also has a right to get fired and nasty emails. It's a two way street.

Well, the guy saying it didn't have ANY right to say that. His personal political opinion has no place in a company situation. In his personal time, he can say or do whatever he wants.
On the other side, people do NOT have the right to send hate mails or whatever else to the company. People are quick to act and will blame an entire company over the action of one person long before hearing the entire story. It might be the company's political view, but who knows.
I think people are over reacting to this whole thing, personally. I think the guy should have just said a simple, "fuck you, then I'll go to someone else instead of buying 100's or 1000's of mats." Assuming that this company had nothing to do with that response (and I doubt it did since the response wasn't done in a professional way either, sounded like a 5 year old's response), I think it sucks that they will probably not recover from something this large.
My question, did he try to talk to someone else in the company or just run to the media immediately?

You cannot send threatening emails. You can send emails to companies about their services and personnel and they do not have to be nice.

i am conflicted about this. on one hand, the response was rude and unprofessional. the guy's personal opinion should be kept separate from a work email.
on the other hand, if the email was representative of the store as a whole, then he should have the right to express the store's stance. HOWEVER the email very rude/blunt and could have been said in a better way. like, "sorry our shop does not wish to support the war in iraq. however, you can check store Y for international shipments," instead of personally insulting the sgt for just doing his job.
the thing that also irks me sometimes is that people think all military personnel support the war. that is NOT true. they are just doing their jobs and their duty, and a lot of them are shipped out against their will. there is a difference between believing in your duty and believing in the cause. to an extent, you have to psychologically believe in your duty out there to keep yourself going. but that doesn't mean the soldier believes the war is good idea. people get the two mixed up all the time. dont shoot the messenger.
