Default Day or Night?

The other night I was on Rt1 it was past 9pm....I was cruising along....now I usually take a glance on my rear view mirror often just to see whats going on in the rear...well out of nowhere here come this gixxer (of course w/ no gear on shorts, short sleeves, sneakers)....anyways...he totally took me by surprise, he was cutting in and out....when he got passed me this one car up further decided to get over in the left lane and totally cut this dude off...it wasnt the cagers fault it was one of those perfect storms/situation thingy where it was clear at one moment and the next the gixxer came in hard and of course the brakes were locked and cursing, finger pointing ensued....nothing happened since the gixxer was able to gain control...

Had it been daytime I think the car might have seen the bike but at night it is that much more difficult. There is a difference in the way I ride in the day as supposed to the night. At night I feel its more of a risk & most wont see me or me see them (car, object, animals, etc.).

Do you ride differently in the day vs. night?
Do you have a preference riding Day or Night?

I'm a lot more careful at night. It's hard to see a deer on the side of the road or a huge pot hole after the sun goes down.

With limited experience...have found the exact opposite. Because we have the headlight, people tend to see us from further away...or they would realize that something is coming, as appose to just relying on seeing or hearing the actual bike.

Granted, we cant see the obsticals in the road as well..trade off...there are usually less cars on the road at night.

Difference thus far...Usually take main roads at night where I like to take back roads during day.

I ride the same way day or night, but I always figured I'm more visible at night because of the headlights.

In terms of preference... I like riding on a nice and sunny day! Night time only for partying or meeting up for bike night or something.

Yes taking a back road at night could be very bad due to lack of lighting...but even on the main roads the thing that I get most of the time are cagers not using the dam signals...I can appreciate those who do for sure.

I hate traffic, so I tend to go slower due to lack of trust for cagers. If it's open, I'll see you later....

I definately prefer to ride in the daytime because i can see more... day or night i ride as if i were invisible and nobody can see me, it doesnt change how i drive, with respect to what i expect other drivers to see and do.

cagers may be able to see us at night with the light better, but its still hard to judge speed especially since people rarely actually stop at stop signs and take the time to figure it out, they just roll through, take a quick look and step on it.

I like riding during the day, because at night I need CBR Bob to light up the road for me with his HID's

Yeah I agree at night its harder to get a feel for and or size up your surroundings, from cagers thinking they can beat the red light, to teens racing their vtec hondas. I think most drivers are not as attentive when driving at night and are lazy/careless behind the wheel.

I rather get my ride on during the day...but the night doesn't bother me much, but I do drive cautiously.

I rather ride in the daytime as I can see better but overaul I dont have a problem riding at night, my high beams stay on day or night no matter what. The last time I turned my high beams off in the day time I almost got slamed into by a Honda minivan, and to this day swear high beams on in the day could save your life. simple as that.

You dont get cagers swerving or high beaming you for your high beams at night?

i drive n ride much safer at night and tend not to speed since i can see the po po better during the day. At night, all the cars look about the same. i usually try to find a car n follow it, otherwise i stay away from all others
