I know an incredible welder but he is up here in Pompton Lakes, NJ. I had him do a bunch of the factory recall welds on honda goldwings back in '03 when they needed shock mounts and frames welded and gusseted. This was when I was a Hon/Suz service mgr. I have also had him do frame repairs on race bikes and some other stuff here and there. Let me know if you want the contact info. The name escapes me at the moment.

I'm pretty sure that's right. it's on cannonball road going towards the dupont factory.

It will cost more to weld that then it will be to replace it. Plus, it will have to be steam pressure washed first to remove any oil or contaminents and again, if it's on the vehicle it won't be done due to fire/explosion hazard of the fuel cell and other combustible fluids. The oil soaked into the steal is an issue. And don't forget the amount of time required to prep the surface.

Doesn't sound like it will be worth it for you in the end. I would just get a new axle housing or whatever it is, be it from a scrap yard or whatever.

yeah, thats the guy. he had a bunch of fuel cells he did for the coastguard. all perfect aluminum tig welds. When we did the honda goldwings it was something. One person worked the head of the welder while the other worked the pedal since the bikes are so big. I've sent other people to him for frame repair work as well.
