calling IrocRob
and anyone else with knowledge of re-felting a pool table.
i moved and had to take apart my pool table, pulling off the felt of the bed of the table because the slate is in 3 pieces. 1 piece weighs like a ton.
i could have bought the same color which was "green" but is wouldnt match the colors of my basement floor, walls and bar. so i went with sandstone brown.
i already did the rails took about 4 hours. about a hour to do the 1st rail. after that is was easy. just pulling out the million staples off each rail took a long time, then taking off the fering strip took 3 seconds. replacing the new felt on the rail with putting the fering strip back on and pulling tight and stapling was easy. looks like a pro did it.
now the bed is where it looks difficult. looking at it looks easy. but its not.
when i 1st had it delivered and installed they used the spray glue, and sprayed it on top of the bed UNDER where the rails would go. so the glue on top of the bed dont screw up the balls in action while playing. i got directions from the place, and read up on it on the internet.
on the internet it says to staple it under the slate. while pulling and stretching. but i cant see staples going into a 1" piece of slate.
where i got the felt from they said dont spray on top of the bed, but lay the entire felt over the bed, evenly on all 4 sides. starting from 1 end. now when its even on all 4 sides go to 1 end, lay paper over the felt, flip the felt over, and spray a little on the felt, let semi dry for like a minute or until the glue starts to turn white and wrap it under the slate.
then repeat the same process on the other end, but pull as tight as possible, and work the sides.
Rob, i know you did yours on your own, how did you do yours.? and was it easy.?
and if anybody else did theirs on their own, how did you do yours.?
im capable of doing it on my own but want some input before doing so and i cannot see myself spending close to $300 for someone to come in and do the bed alone and $20.00 a rail which is $120.00 for all 6 rails.
