Default my trip to nova scotia...

back in july... i was lazy about getting pics posted up. that trip physically and mentally drained me out! i stayed off the bike for 2 full weeks when i got back. haha...what a great trip. here are pics!

This is how I started my trip to Nova Scotia. In my hurry, I didn't put the kick stand all the way down when I parked it in the street...it was down just enough to balance when I walked away. I took 4 steps and BOOOM, down it went. It would have been fine if it weren't for the curb. There's a dent in the gas tank and the left mirror snapped right off. No damage to the farings.

here's a closer shot of the dent. ouch. i was extremely pissed, but i wasn't about to cancel our trip because of a dent. after a smoke and a moment of silence, we decided to continue as planned.

this was our planned route. head up to bangor, maine and hit the local road to bar harbor, maine...where we would take the ferry across the next morning to yarmouth, nova scotia.

we finally got to bar harbor, maine. shortly before getting to this little town, we had to ride through this muddy, gravelly, one lane road road from hell. i swear i thought i was on ice! lucklily, my friend and i made it in one piece.

this is what my friend was riding, 2001 CBR600 F4.

the next morning, we take the ferry across to nova scotia. as you can see, we packed lightly. we took the cat ferry, which took about 2.5 hours. i never got seasick until i took this ferry. i should've taken some dramamine. oops, i found out the hard way.

here's a shot of me. i wore my mesh jacket, but i should worn my leathers. my mistake, i'll know better next time. even though it was the middle of the summer, it was pretty chilly up there at night.

almost in nova scotia! they checked for passports. as you can see, there weren't any other sportbikes besides my friend and me. lol.

here we assessed our location and what roads we should take for the rest of the day.

this was our basic route. we should've stopped to take more pics of the roads. there were some really nice roads we hit.

we get to halifax, nova scotia! what a nice city. kinda small, but nice. everyone seemed so friendly too. it was especially weird for my friend who's used to nyc attitudes/manners. lol.

the air was so clean, the temperatures were perfect, and the roads were awesome. curve after curve for endless miles. i loved it. and many parts rode along the coast, which was awesome.

me trying to hide my gas tank dent and missing left mirror. haha.

another pic at some random town. a lot of the roads were smooth curvy roads. haha..it was funny trying to get used to the kilometers...basically we followed the speed limit as if they were in mph. surprisingly, during the entire trip, we only saw a few candian cops.

these were everywhere.

a pic as we left nova scotia. instead of taking the ferry back in yarmouth, we decided to ride through canada into the northern border of maine/canada. what a trip!

our route back to NJ. what a long trip. i think it would've been easier to trailer the bikes since most of the way there and back were highways, nothing worth wasting your tires on.

interestingly enough, a few canadians we met on the trip asked us why in the world we rode our bikes all the way to nova scotia. they said the roads in new hampshire were so much better..twistier and smoother. lol. we wanted some canadia lobster. we just wanted to do something different. the entire trip logged about 2700 miles...i never thought i'd put on so many miles in such a short period. wow.

btw, this is my bike now. i decided to take the paint off the dented area and repaint that area. i also got rid of my mirrors.

for my new mirrors, i used the reflector bracket idea i found on the r1 forum with pivoting convex mirrors i got from autozone ($3). works great. :biggthump :biggthump

yes, the trip was awesome. the best part about it was that we didn't reserve any places to stay. we rode all day and ate wherever and checked into a place when we got tired. we only scheduled general area 'check points' where we'd stop for dinner and/or sleep. road trip on an r1...who would've thought.

thats balls man, the days in behind you (right before you get on the nova scotia ferry) is the hotel i stayed in when i went up there for labor day. you could of went to ride the twistis on acadia mountain, the view is sick and there were alot of other bikers there too.
