Tank Grip Panels

Upon completing my 2nd trackday at VIR i noticed many riders use STOMPGRIPS.

One google search later I found this piece online that reviewed STOMPGRIPS vs GRIPSTERS. http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/features/J...nk%20grips.pdf The author seems to prefer the GRIPSTERS by tech spec for its price and for the fact that they can be removed and reapplied multiple times if stored properly. The STOMPGRIPS sound to be designed better for the rigors of track riding.

Was hoping I could get some feedback on what you've used, what you've liked and any other comments and concerns regarding tank grip panels.

The stomp grip pad on the left side of the tank came off while towing

I hear they work well but I think they are ugly. I would def. consider on a track bike but not street

I have some on my R6. They work really well if you're wearing leather pants. You work less trying to keep yourself up a lot and you don't slide forward and crush the family jewels on hard braking or hitting bumps. You notice them more with jeans on but I rarely ride with jeans so I can't say much more than that.

I like them a lot and would recommend them for anyone with a sport bike whether it's for street or track.

They don't look THAT bad and you can't see it when you're on the bike.

Is it just me or do you have a big problem w/ people that ride in anything other than leather?

I have them on my RC51 and I am picking up a set for my TLR tomorrow at Pocono. I like them, haven't ridden with them on the street, but they work well with the leathers.

I don't have a problem with them. I just don't like riding with them. If they don't care enough to protect themselves, what's to stop them from endangering my life as well?

I've been on rides where guys have gotten seriously hurt because they didn't wear full gear and it ruined everyone's day, not just his. I prefer not to put myself in that situation again. It's my choice.

What you don't seem to get is that this is for full day rides where the pace is spirited, not just to go someplace to hang out.

Is it just me or do you have a big problem with wearing full gear?

Full leathers or not, and someone going down ruins everyone's day. However, it ruins the day the most for the person who went down - gear or not.

Stomp seems to be the choice...

Thats like saying I don't like muslims because 5% of the population is for the destruction of Capitalist America. Does not mean they are all that way. Same for people who choose to not wear full gear. I ride with TPM Coaches (who on the track are the fastest guys out there) and MSF instructors who choose to not where full gear when they go out for small rides. Does that mean they are irresponsible or they do not care enough to protect themselves? No. Its a personal choice.

Ride on the track then come back and ride on the street and you'll see why you don't feel like putting on full leathers everytime you ride.

I have ridden on the track. I've also been riding for 23 yrs. More often than not, the guys wearing little or no gear is going to do something stupid. I'd rather not be around when it happens.

RAC brought that up because he has a wild hair up his ass about me. A few weeks ago, I agreed to organize and lead a ride on the R6 board and requested full gear. Don't have full gear? Don't come. All the squids started bitching and moaning so I said fuck it and backed out of the ride. I guess he can't let it go.

This is one of the reasons I'm thinking about selling the R6 and buying something that doesn't attract too many idiots, maybe a fuckin' Volvo. Again, my choice.


I thought this was about StompGrip pads.

I can definitely see the stopm grip being uncomfortable if you're wearing jeans.
