I really wanted a Suomy because of the fit, the ventilation, and the designs. Lets face it... I'm not the only one that helmet shops for something that I find visually appealing, among other things. Suomy has some good designs IMO! I like bright helmets...

I'll check into Scorpion. I like the idea of finding an ecomonical helmet that fits good. How is ventilation compared to Suomy?

One thing I'm worried about is that I never ride with ear plugs. I have shitty HJC helmets currently, meaning lower end HJC.... They don't vent well, but that also means I don't need plugs. How are the Suomy's with noise?

Spec 1R's are vent really well, they are light, but they are loud without plugs. I'm not sure about their Ventura or Vandal lines'

Watch yourself with HJC helmets, especially the low-end, polycarbonate models. IMHO, they're barely better than no helmet at all. They've been banned from use @ NHIRR (Loudon) and I and a good friend of mine have both received serious concussions in crashes while wearing HJC helmets. In my case, it was with a supposedly "better" fiberglass composite model. be careful, ask yourself, do I have a $150 head or a $550 dollar one? that said, Scorpions are great buys and quite well made- I'll probably purchase one next.

I actually tried on a Corsair RX7 Nakano helmet and it fit me better than I remember it fitting me before. I thought the RX7 didn't fit so well last time I tried it on, but it fit like a freaking GLOVE Saturday... I think that's going to be my next big purchase, as I'm gear shopping this season.

I also found a KBC VR2 Flare helmet that I really like on closeout. I love the colors.... It's like $130 on closeout and a so-so helmet from what I've heard. I don't know about you guys, but I like having different gear for different reasons. I want to eventually have a wide array of helmets, and maybe keep them on a display shelf or something

We're not talking about on the track... We're talking about daily street riding. Plugs necessary?

I think so. Wind noise not only does a number on your ears but also your stamina and concentration level. I found that when I began wearing plugs, I didn't get fatigued as much when doing longer rides.

good earplug info:

I've been hanging out to get a McCoy helmet, they won't be around in 07.
