Personally i do like the extra show of force to get some of the dirt bags off the road, but at the same time i think its BS. You shouldn't have to be harrased because you ride a bike.

But thats NYC. Plus i don't think it helped having the 20 year old kid die on the belt parkway tuesday night.

In NJ you must have a auto license prior to getting a bike license, so that validates it being easier to ride without one.

The propblem is it's easy to look for a 'Black 2004 Maxima', than it is for an ignorant force to look for a 'Black 2004 R1'. If they actually knew what they were looking at, there wouldn't be such blanket orders.

In line with soda, what if it's just black people on motorcycles? Or just honda's because statistics show they get stolen the most? Is that still cool? You can pull over every motor vehicle on the road, that's fine, cars can be (and are) in violation of lots of shit too, they're not exempt. But it shouldn't be allowed to selectively target categories to enforce the laws. Hippy philosophy or not, at one point you have to say “whats next”?

And Ron, thank the hippies that fought for wheel chair access so your crippled ass can get around you limpy bastard. <- that's ron walking.

OK, let me clarify.... NOW you must get a auto license prior to getting a m/c. (this is fairly recent, you will also see the scooters not being allowed to be used at MVS to get a m/c license, the GDLs are also in effect.

LOL! weren't you the first one to get steamed!?

More on topic: I actually understand both sides of the argument, I can't give more weight to one than the other, but if my papers are in order, it's less of a concern when I get stopped. When I start getting stopped 3 or 4 times, then I go back to "hippie" mode.

Everything is relative, so let's all just keep an open mind until cops start beating up on bikers

P.S. As of this week, I'm no longer a "riding in Manhattan" virgin. Not too bad of an experience (yet)!

You know what, I have been gettng creamed by my insurance companies for years regardless whether its bikes or cars. I am 39, clean license, home owner, police offcer and avid rider.
I finally gave up trying to ride a sport bike on the street because of the insurance fees, so now my street ride is my Valkyrie. The other bikes are track day machines now.
If the cops get hold of unlicensed, unregistered, uninsured bikers, and grab a few stolen bikes in the process, so be it. Maybe someday guys will get the hint and be legit on the street. Too many unlicensed squids on the street. They need to be controlled. Nothing worse than powerbikes in the hands of the mental midgets who do nothing legit. Screw em. Let them pay to play like everyone else has to.

FYI, as a NYC cop, this is nothing new, road blocks just dont grab bikes, they are there for selected enforcement. This time its bikes, often times its for DWI.

I just got my motorcycle license on 3/20/2006. if that rule is in affect now, its bull****.

I dont want a car license, or a car, or to drive a car.

You get creamed because you cant find a good insurance company like Rider Insurance in NJ!

Its the same thing with cars, but a motorcycle is more dangerous. if retards want to get on a bike and be a jackass, so be it. i'd be more afraid of a retard in a car than on a bike.
