Damn... those are some serious issues! Sorry you guys/gals have to go through that. I'm a firm believer in letting your body heal itself, but there doesn't seem to be anything that can be done or ignored in those cases. whew! rough!

I'm lucky, mine a few and far between...
My last one put me in the hospital though. It was the third migraine in as many days and they were progressively getting worse. On the third day I lost the ability to complete a sentences and communicate with any coherence. Off to the hospital (~10pm) where I found no help other than a nice clean bathroom to puke in. After waiting 2 hours I got fed up and asked my wife to take me home. Got home and puked again in front of the house. 1/2 hour later I'm in tears from the pain and frustration (still not able to communicate) so my wife calls for an ambulance. I puke in the hospital bed one more time for good measure. They dope me up so I feel no pain and send me off for a scan. Nothing abnormal. A few hours later I float home (feeling no pain) and wake up like nothing ever happened.
Yes, migraines suck. I do still remember my first one when I was 9, they have that much of an impact.

I just remembered that I got one in high school during a bowling tournament. I went from winning the tournament the previous year to bowling an average of about 70. I made my school proud.

I was in a pretty bad car accident in 1990 and I get migraine headaches a few times a week. Most of mine last for a day or two, sometimes three.
Unfortunately , imitrex does not work for me, I use Fioricet and Advil Migraine.
I found out mine were triggered by TMJ from my fractured jaw. Lots of nerves in the jaw socket and alignment issues can cause severe headaches.
Other migraines are caused by stress, something you ate, and other factors. Some are just confused with bad sinus headaches. Until you really feel the pain from an actual migraine headache, most people haven't got a clue what pain really is.
I am just sick of them, they are part of my daily routine.
For me, the whole trick to beating the really bad ones is to get the Advil into my system at the first sign of a headache. My sign usually is excessive mouth watering, used to by accompanied by nausea, but I am so used to them the nausea does not come any longer.
IF I wait too long to take a pill, I will be in serious trouble. Then a headache will become too strong to get anything done. If I have to resort to pain killers, I am shot for a couple of days afterwards. They are rough.
